OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDENT COUNCIL

7. Legislative Powers of the JGLS Student Council:

The Student Council shall have legislative powers on several matters as listed below, but not limited to:

To appropriate and determine student activities;
To appropriate and determine the student activities’ fees;
To establish a Student Council Treasury;
To establish Student Activity societies’;
To require, at its discretion, financial reports from organizations, societies, committees and any other body established under this Constitution and/or affiliated to the Student Council;
To allocate funds to the organizations, societies, committees and any other establishment under this Constitution and/or affiliated to the Student Council.;
To hold meetings with the University Registrar, Vice Chancellor, JGLS Dean, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans and other JGLS and JGU Administrative personnel and deliberate and to make necessary recommendations, and to hold referendums and to take actions regarding the JGLS student welfare policy, or rules to uphold the JGLS Bill of Rights and to promote the general welfare of the Student Body at JGLS;
To form various ad hoc committees including the following but not limited to:

JGLS mess committee

JGLS Information Technology and Web Sense Committee

JGLS Male Student Housing Committee

JGLS Female Student Housing Committee

JGLS Student Representatives for Disciplinary Hearings Committee

JGLS Student Cultural events management Committee

Any other committee as approved by the JGLS Student Council

To assist the JGU Sports department in organizing sports events at JGU;
The Student Council reserves the right to impeach the members of the Student Council as per procedure laid down in this Constitution;
To update and amend this Constitution, the Schedules to this Constitution and its various codes as per the procedure laid down in this Constitution.
