JGLS STUDENT COUNCIL 2014-15

Committee Report for Semester A, 2014-15.

 

The committee has had around around 6-7 meetings out of which 1 meeting was with Col. Bed, Mr. Gulab Chand Yadav, and Mr. Sultan Singh. The major goals that were set up for the semester are as follows:

 

1      To create rapport between the Security staff and the students.

2     To have safer and peaceful student gatherings.

3     To address issues like frisking, checking at the gate.

4     Check the availability of the cart at the gate.

5     Check on breath analyzer policy.

6     Update the status of working and non-working cameras.

7     Streetlights and patrolling near the campus by the guards. 

8     Curtains in the checking area for girls. 

 

We did work upon each of them in the following way: The Security 

 

1      Staff is well versed with the members of the committee, and the contact numbers of the members have also been given to the guards at the hostel gates for any assistance they need at any point of time.

2     Members from among the SGRC Security Committee make up Security Committees for each event that is held on campus. This is to ensure that instead of guards, students can handle issues that may crop up on their level.

3     The policy of frisking has been strictly done away with, and will be resorted to only in exceptional circumstances. In addition, the Student Council is planning to introduce a protocol on when and how frisking/breath analyzer tests can be done on students.

4     The availability of the cart has been increased by 2 hours on weekends, as there is more number of students going out and coming in.

5     The breath analyzer has been repaired, and there is regular check on its working and accuracy.

6     New cameras had been ordered, but had not been set up by the end of 2014.

7     One of the guards is now on patrolling duty from Biswamil to the College gatepost sun set. Also, a letter regarding the same was sent to the SP, Sonipat. 

8     The authorities principally agreed to put a curtain covering the girls checking area, but the same has not been implemented practically.

 

There were a few projects which were initiated last semester like the issue of SH3 and SH4 back doors, availability of cart, having a safe gathering, make sure that the CCTV cameras are in working conditions and installing more cameras, drafting proper rules and regulations.

 

There were a few goals which we were not able to fulfill, the major reason for that was at times the administration is not as responsive as we’d like them to be. However, that is changing slowly, and we have started to see the change in our interactions with them.
