IMPEACHMENT, REMOVAL AND VACANCIES

22. Impeachment of the President, Vice President, General Secretary, General Secretary and Treasurer

The Core Members may be impeached, resulting in the removal from office.
In order to initiate the impeachment, a Core Member or a Batch Representative or ten Class Representatives along with forty per cent of the total strength of the Student Body must submit in writing to the JGU Vice Chancellor’s Office for an impeachment proceeding.
Upon such a request, the Vice Chancellor’s Office shall, in conjunction with the Student Council, determine whether to hold an impeachment vote.
A fifty per cent votes of the members present, sitting in quorum, are required to approve the impeachment proceeding.
The member subject to impeachment may not be a part of such deliberations but shall have the opportunity to speak on her or his own behalf.
The member subject to the impeachment proceeding shall not be present during impeachment vote.
A vote of three-fourth of the members present, of the whole Student Council, is required to remove the President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Cultural Secretary or the Treasurer.

23. Removal of Batch Representatives

Batch Representatives found in violation of the provisions of this Constitution may be removed from office.
In order to initiate a removal of Batch Representative, a member of the Student Council or thirty per cent of the respective batch, must submit in writing to the Core Members of the Student Council for such proceedings.
Upon such a request, the President in conjunction with the Student Council shall determine whether to hold a removal vote.
A vote of thirty per cent of the members present, sitting in quorum, is required to approve the proceeding.
The member subject to such proceedings shall not be a part of such deliberations but she or he shall have the opportunity to speak on her or his own behalf.
A vote of two-third of the members present, sitting in quorum, is required to remove the Batch Representative.

24. Removal of Class Representative

Class Representatives found in violation of the provisions of this Constitution may be removed from office.
To initiate the removal of a Class Representative, a member of the Student Council or forty per cent of the total strength of her or his respective section must submit in writing to the General Secretary requesting for such proceedings.
Upon such a request, the President in conjunction with the Student Council shall determine whether to hold a removal vote.
The member subject to such proceedings may not be part of such deliberations but she or he shall have the opportunity to speak on her or his own behalf.
A vote of two-third of the members present, sitting in quorum, is required to remove the Class Representative.

25. Vacancies

A vacancy occurs whenever a member of the Student Council is unable to serve due to absence, resignation, removal or impeachment from office, or due to any other unforeseen reason.

If the office of the President becomes vacant, the Vice-President shall assume the position and appoint her or his replacement from among the other Core Members or Batch Representatives of the Student Council, after holding a vote within the Student Council Meeting.
If the office of the Vice-President, General Secretary, Cultural Secretary or Treasurer becomes vacant, the President shall appoint a replacement from the Core Members or Batch Representatives after holding a vote within the Student Council Meeting.
If the position of one of the Batch Representatives becomes vacant, the Class Representatives of the respective batch shall elect another Batch Representative. If there is no eligible candidate willing to serve, fresh elections shall be held to fill it.
If the position of one of the Class Representatives becomes vacant, fresh elections shall be held to fill it.
